ABOUT EUROTRED
The Company commenced business in 1972 trading as Custom Motorcycles Pty Ltd from its then sole location in Melbourne, distributing Bridgestone, Continental and Trelleborg tyres along with Izumi roller chain. With such prominent product brands to distribute, sales expanded rapidly and the birth of a National Motorcycle Accessory Distributor had begun. By July 1973, a second distribution warehouse was opened in Sydney to service the increased demand from the NSW retail stores. At this time, two very high profile European off-road accessory brands were added to inventory, namely Magura and Jofama.
Strong demand for our well respected products continued, leading to our third warehouse being opened in Brisbane in January 1975. At this time it was acknowledged that our name, Custom Motorcycles Pty Ltd, no longer bore any relationship to our current business activities, hence the name "Eurotred" which reflected our European products along with tyres which were rapidly becoming our core focus. The name was extended to Eurotred (Aust) Pty Ltd, to indicate a company which was rapidly reaching into all States of Australia.
By January 1978 our Adelaide warehouse had commenced operations to service the increased demand in South Australia and provide a stepping stone for further expansion into Perth which was achieved in 1980 with the opening of a distribution warehouse to service Western Australia. With the Sydney warehouse servicing the ACT, the Melbourne warehouse servicing Tasmania and the Adelaide warehouse servicing the Northern Territory, the aim for a chain of distribution warehouses that could efficiently service every part of Australia in a timely manner had been achieved.
Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s motorcycle technology advanced in leaps and bounds with many of the much sort after accessory products becoming the norm, as original equipment items on many new motorcycles. As a consequence some products lost traction, but one product group to grow remarkably during this exciting time of motorcycle development was tyres. The development in motorcycle tyres was unprecedented and the technological improvements have continued to this very day. Bridgestone was at the cutting edge of motorcycle tyre development and via our national distribution network became the number one motorcycle tyre in Australia. Through our motor sport activities and extensive support of individual and team competitors, we played an important part in this development.
Eurotred distributed products have evolved to reflect market demands, and along with strong sales in both on-road and off-road Bridgestone motorcycle tyres and tubes, demand for our other recognized product brands including Powervolt Batteries, Goldfren Disc Brake Pads, Viper Tyres and Tubes, Black Adder Tubes, Innova and Artrax ATV Quad Tyres to name a few, have also increased markedly.
With Company owned warehouses in each Australian main-land State, and Auckland New Zealand since late 2005, a network of specialized Motor Sport Agents throughout Australia and a team of motorcycle enthusiasts as employees, we are well positioned, stocked and staffed to service the motorcycle retail network throughout both countries.
